Paul Turnbull takes part in Live Q&A!

Skipper Paul Turnbull took over our Twitter account and answered questions put to him by you, the County Faithful.

In case you missed it, here’s what he had to say to you.

Q: Do you see yourself working on the coaching side at County when your time is up or do you have other plans #AskBully

A: Yes definitely, being a Stockport boy it would be a dream one day to become a coach in some capacity.

Q: #AskBully You were the first player I made it to at the final whistle against Nuneaton and I planted a smacker on your cheek. Was it as memorable for you as it was for me?

A: Haha I remember that very well and enjoyed it very much. What a day!

Q: What has been your favourite home game this season and why? #AskBully

A: You know what mate I cant pick one out. There’s been a few, all I do is put the shirt on and give 100% every game and enjoy playing.

Q: When at Dagenham in February how come you didn’t start a chant when sat with fellow fans, do we need to teach you some #AskBully

A: To be honest mate I know a few songs but you put me under pressure and I crumbled.

Q: #askbully what was Liam Dickinson like on a night out or team trip away?

A: Dicko was one of those where you stand back and just enjoy the moves. And in a hotel he was a nightmare, you used to wake up every morning with wet feet as he used to put a bucket on the bottom of your door, so obviously when you open it the bucket tips up.

Q: #AskBully never a red against Dover, was it?

A: You know what mate….. IT wasn’t a red but because my studs were showing I can see why he gave it. But in my opinion it wasn’t a red and maybe a yellow would have been fair.

Q: #AskBully Which was the most memorable day, Wembley win in 2008 or Nuneaton in 2019?

A: What a tough/good question!! but I’m going to have to say the Wembley win just because of the venue and the excitement of the playoffs. But saying all that being a champion for my home town club is right up there.

Q: How surprised were you at Jim’s decision to start Conrad Logan over John Ruddy at Wembley #AskBully

A: To be honest mate I was surprised but I was more surprised about myself starting, as Jaybo was back fit and he played the majority of that season and was playing very well so I was grateful the gaffer stuck by me as a young lad and I thought I did him and the club proud that day.

Q: What’s the feeling around the club since it changed hands? #AskBully

A: Yeah the vibes are very good, it’s what the club needed to get back to where it should/needs to be, I’m not saying the previous group of people couldn’t have done it but with the ambition and drive of the new owner it won’t be long it it’s back in promised land.

Q: Best player he’s played with at County #AskBully

A: I’ve been privileged to play with a lot of good players in my time at Stockport but the likes of Steven Gleeson, Pilks, Danny Rowe were different class.

Q: #AskBully when you’ve finished football are you looking to go in to management yourself? I can just picture you being the next Jim Gannon

A: 100% it’s definitely one of my goals to become a manager/coach one day. or Jim’s no2

Q: Ok Captain. In the picture of you on the balcony at Nuneaton you’re surrounded by Ash, Jim and Richard Parks and in front of the County masses. Can you put into words that feeling as you lift the trophy?

A: One of the proudest days of my life. incredible feeling lifting the trophy as a champion in front of my family and friends and the County faithful.

Q: What was more special, winning at Wembley or winning the League last year? #AskBully

A: I said it earlier, it’s a very good question but I’ve got to go with the win at Wembley because of the venue and the excitement of the play offs, but to win the league and become a champion was very special.

Q: Has there been any stranger fan tributes than the toilet tribute?

A: NO

Q: #askbully whats your favourite meal and drink? P.S do you know of a good taxi company

A: I love Fajitas mate with an ice cold Coke Zero. Also Lynx are cheap and friendly if you haven’t already used them

Q: What are your favourite biscuits to dip in a brew? #AskBully

A: It’s got to be a hobnob

Q: Fave midfield pairing to play in? #askbully

A: Couldn’t choose mate. Walker and Keane are two very good footballers and I love playing alongside them both. Just tell Jim to play all 3 of us

Q: Is it true that CLARKEY makes the best brews at the club? #Obviously

A: You by a country mile mate, stirred twice clockwise twice anti-clockwise with a sweetener.

Q: Have you forgiven Alfie for denying you the chance to score, and become youngest scorer for the club (to go with being youngest player) on your debut at 16 against Wrexham ? #AskBully

A: Nope!!! To be fair I would have probably missed

Q: What’s your best moment in a County shirt? #AskBully

A: Definitely winning at Wembley and becoming Champions of the North are the 2 moments that will stay with me forever.

Q: Time for a testimonial? #AskBully

A: I’ll leave that up to you guys and the football club

Q: #AskBully How does having type 1 diabetes affect your pre and post match routines?

A: Yeah it’s very difficult to get my sugar levels right, I’ve got a routine what i stick with regarding eating the same amount off carbs before every game. it doesn’t always work but if I stick to it them I just hope before I go out on the pitch my levels are in the green zone
