Referee confirmed for Swindon trip

Sam Purkiss has been confirmed as the match referee for Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and Swindon Town at the County Ground.

It will be the first time that Purkiss, an EFL referee since 2019, has refereed a game involving County, but he did oversee two Swindon games last season – in charge for their 5-0 win over Grimsby Town, as well as a 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle United.

He refereed 29 first-team games in all competitions last season across League Two, League One and the cup competitions, during which time he issued 110 yellow cards, ten red cards and awarded six penalties.

In 13 games so far this campaign, Purkiss has shown 65 yellows, eight reds and pointed to the penalty spot five times. His last game came in the Emirates FA Cup last weekend, as he oversaw Salford City’s 2-2 draw with League One side Peterborough United.

The Assistant Referees on Saturday will be Alistair Nelosn and Abbas Khan, whilst Marvyn Amphlett will be the Fourth Official.
