Referee Carl Brook has been selected to take charge of Easter Monday’s League Two clash between County and Newport County at Edgeley Park.
The official last refereed County in October 2019, overseeing a 2-2 draw away at Bromley in the National League, before being promoted to the EFL at the end of that season. It will be his second time refereeing Newport this campaign, having also taken charge last November, for their 3-1 defeat away at MK Dons in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Brook took charge of 30 games in all competitions last season, during which time he issued 124 yellow cards, nine red cards and awarded four penalties.
In 32 games so far this campaign, the majority of which have come in League One, Brook has so far shown 119 yellows, two reds and pointed to the penalty spot on five occasions. His last game saw him take charge of MK Dons v Portsmouth in League One, in which a red card was shown to Portsmouth’s Joe Morrell in a 1-1 draw.
Brook will be assisted on the day by Marc Wilson and Matthew Sowerby, whilst Richard Wigglesworth will be the Fourth Official.
