Referee Young to take charge of Wimbledon game

The match officials for Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and AFC Wimbledon have been confirmed, with Alan Young selected to referee the game.

Referee, Young officiated County on two occasions last season, in charge for our 3-1 home defeat to Grimsby Town in October, as well as our 1-0 win away at Swindon Town in March. A red card was shown in both of those games; to Callum Camps in the game against Grimsby, and to Swindon’s Jacob Wakeling – the latter being shown in the first minute of the game.

His one time refereeing AFC Wimbledon last season came in April, as he oversaw their 1-0 defeat at home to Rochdale AFC.

The official has been an EFL referee since 2018, taking charge of 31 games in all competitions last season. In that time, Young issued 131 yellow cards, eight red cards and awarded four penalties.

He has yet to referee a game so far this season, meaning his last game came in April when he refereed Crawley Town’s 2-1 win over Tranmere Rovers in League Two.

The assistant referees at the Cherry Red Records Stadium will be Paul Evans and Stuart Butler, whilst Leigh Crowhurst will be on Fourth Official duties.
