Reid signs new deal

We are pleased to announce that striker Alex Reid has signed a new two-year deal with the Club, keeping him at Edgeley Park until 2023.

Reid, who joined the club in the summer on a free transfer following his release by League Two Stevenage, has had an exceptional first season in SK3 with 18 goals in 38 appearances so far.

His 14 National League goals currently make him the third highest goalscorer in the division, with only Kabongo Tshimanga and Michael Cheek scoring more than him this campaign.

The former Aston Villa academy product has become the latest player to commit his immediate future to the club, following on from new deals for Sam Minihan, Jordan Keane, and the permanent signing of Elliot Newby in recent weeks.

Director of Football Simon Wilson said:

“We’re really pleased to have Alex here for the next 2 years at County. When we first met, he said to me he was looking to find a home, and from this year’s performance –his most starts, and goals, in his career to date –  it feels like he has.”

“Many people have recognised Alex’s talent along the years and he is now at the age to show how good he can be. We’re delighted to give him the platform and support to make that happen and hope we can achieve our goals together.”

First-Team Manager Simon Rusk said:

“Reidy has had a strong season, scoring important goals and deserves his new contract. He can now aim to keep improving, and most importantly maintain his important contribution to our season.”
