Tanto Olaofe & Akil Wright Deliver Black History Month Workshop at Stockport Sports Village

Tanto Olaofe and Akil Wright visited Stockport Sports Village last week to deliver a workshop to our Junior Academy on the importance of Black History Month, as part of the County Collective initiative.

Our U14 and U15 players were given the opportunity to ask questions to the duo to gain a further understanding of the importance of Black History Month and why it is celebrated. Topics that were discussed included the players’ path into professional football, racial issues they faced when paving their way into the game and why diversity, equality and inclusion is important, both on and off the pitch.

Tanto and Akil also stepped onto the pitch to take part in a training session with out U9 and U10 sides, taking part in passing drills before answering a few questions about their journey into football, and the hard work needed to play at a professional level.

County Collective stands as Stockport County Football Club’s resolute commitment to ensuring that every individual who wishes to support, engage, or work for the club feels not only included but also valued. It’s an important move towards building an environment where diversity is embraced.
