The Club in partnership with Stockport Council Introduce New Matchday Travel Measures

Following a review in association with Stockport Council we are introducing a new process on matchdays to improve the management of vehicles on and around Hardcastle Road. The initiative seeks to manage traffic more effectively, prioritising the safety of fans walking to the stadium.

Key changes to the matchday traffic management system include extended road closure times. These closures will commence up to an hour before kick-off, remaining in effect until 10 minutes after the game starts. Additionally, a closure period of 30 minutes before the final whistle until 15 minutes post full-time will be enforced, encompassing the club-operated car parks. These measures aim to facilitate the safe dispersal of fans walking home.

The new strategy also involves bolstered stewarding and barrier operations at the top of Hardcastle Road, forming part of a wider safety plan. These changes are set to take effect immediately from the Notts County game on Friday 22nd December, so please be mindful of any changes you might need to make to your usual matchday travel plan as your arrival or departure from the stadium will be potentially impacted.

These measures have been communicated to local residents through a co-signed letter, hand-delivered to ensure awareness of the local community. The Club emphasises the importance of maintaining a balanced approach on matchdays to accommodate supporters and residents with mobility or access needs.

We remain committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all fans attending matches at Edgeley Park. These proactive measures underline the Club’s dedication to fostering a secure environment for supporters, contributing to a positive matchday experience for all.
