Stockport County have signed striker Rhys Turner on loan from Morecambe until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old is returning to Edgeley Park four years after making his move to the Football League.
County boss Jim Gannon said: “We have been looking to strengthen our attacking options going into the second half of the season and Rhys is a great addition. He comes highly recommended by the current staff, and his pace, directness and skill on the run will provide an exciting and penetrating edge to our front play. The current form of our attackers is good and we have been pleased with their overall form and productivity, but we need to ensure we stay strong and purposeful in that department for the rest of the season, and the depth and quality of the group steps up with Rhys joining us.”
The Preston-born striker was originally signed by Alan Lord who had kept Turner on his radar for two years from the age of 16. Turner joined the Hatters in August 2013 after scoring 63 goals in one season at Myerscough College.
He was catapulted straight into Alan Lord’s first team and hit six goals in 21 appearances during a blistering six-month spell, before moving to Oldham in a £30,000 deal in January 2014, signing a two-year contract.
He made 25 appearances for the Latics, and also enjoyed successful loan spells at York City and Macclesfield Town before his move to Morecambe in July 2016, signing a two-year deal. Last season he made 30 appearances in League Two.
Rhys will be available for County’s home clash with Salford City this Saturday.
