Many happy returns to Ben McKenna, who turns 25 today.
Ben arrived at Edgeley Park last July, having left our opponents for this coming Saturday, Southport, after the end of the 2016/17 campaign. Prior to his spell at Haig Avenue, he spent time at another current National League North club, Bradford Park Avenue, and also had earlier spells with Workington, Stalybridge Celtic, Ashton United and Scottish side Annan Athletic.
The winger, who was capped by Northern Ireland at Under-17, 18 and 19 levels, and opened his goal-scoring account for the Hatters against Barnton in the Cheshire Senior Cup a week ago, began his career in the Football League with Carlisle United – for whom he made an appearance in both League One and the FA Cup.
Very best wishes to Ben from the Club – and from Hatters everywhere. Let us hope that he and we shall have an extra reason to celebrate later, following tonight’s FA Trophy replay!
