County Live Legend Series | Phil Jevons

This week’s guest on County Live’s legend series is former striker and current Everton U16s Coach Phil Jevons.

The former Grimsby and Huddersfield Town hitman may have only spent the one year at Edgeley Park after joining from Hyde in 2013, but it proved to be an outstanding individual season from the veteran, who chipped in with 21 goals from just 42 starts.

It proved to be the final season of Phil’s career, who retired that summer to pursue a coaching career at boyhood club Everton – despite being temped to stay on another year.

He bowed out of the professional game in typical fashion, scoring twice in a final day 3-1 win over Harrogate Town, before leaving the pitch to a standing ovation from all corners of Edgeley Park.

In what was a disappointing season for County in general, Phil’s contribution that year means he is fondly remembered by all Hatters supporters.

In this week’s interview, Phil discusses that stellar farewell season, with special praise for manager Alan Lord, who was the one to bring him to Edgeley Park.

There’s also mention of his role now at Goodison Park, and his interactions with managerial legend Carlo Ancelotti.
