Garratt To Stay At County

County defender Tyler Garratt has agreed an extension to his contract and will remain at Edgeley Park until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old left-back joined the Hatters in October 2019 and has achieved seven wins from his 12 appearances so far.

Tyler made his debut for County in the Hatter’s 1-0 win at Dover in the autumn and has been a regular in the squad ever since.

Manager Jim Gannon said: “Its great to have secured Tyler until the end of the campaign. He has filled an important void in the team during the last three months and played his part in the performances and results over that period.

“At this stage we felt a contract to the end of the season was both a good reward for Tyler and also a real opportunity for him, as the left back at the club, to make that position his own for the future. We trust that with his background, experience and qualities that he has the foundation to build upon and become an increasingly strong performer for our remaining fixtures this season. The challenge for him, like most of our players, is to finish this season strong and build confidence that he can be part of the future progress of the team as we look to push on over the next 6, 12, 18 months.”

Born in Lincoln, Tyler joined his hometown club at the age of ten, spending five years at Sincil Bank, followed by a two-year spell at Costa Unida CF in Spain.

His senior career has been spent almost entirely in the Football League, firstly with Bolton Wanderers, making his debut in the Championship in 2016, before moving on to Doncaster Rovers for an undisclosed fee where he remained for three seasons.

Tyler played in League One for AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan during 2018/19, having previously made ten appearances in the National League whilst on loan at Eastleigh in 2017.
