Here come the girls!

Stockport County has taken another significant step in restoring the club to its former glory by bringing the ladies teams back under the club’s umbrella.

County Director Steve Bellis, who was involved with the first County Ladies set-up 26 years ago, has negotiated the integration of the ladies teams alongside County secretary Mark Lockyear. County now boasts 13 ladies teams from age eight up to the senior squad.

It follows the recent move to bring the highly successful youth academy back into the club’s fold under the continued guidance of Academy Director Alan Lord.

All of the teams will wear the same kits as the first team, thanks to enhanced sponsorship from County’s main sponsor ESEM.

Steve said: “We’re delighted to welcome the ladies back to the club and we look forward to helping to promote them and assist their development.

“I was proud to be involved in the initial ladies set-up back in 1991 and it’s appropriate that we bring them back within the County family as we continue to rebuild this fantastic club.”

County Chairman Richard Park said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring the ladies team closer to the club and we look forward to helping them to achieve on and off field success. They are all role models and will help to further enhance the club brand.”

Chair of County Ladies, Jill Godleman, said: “Stockport County Ladies FC are proud to be a part of Stockport County’s future – this is an exciting time for both clubs. We’ve shared the name for many years, now hopefully we can share the success. The future looks bright!”
