Introducing County’s Mental Health First Aider Team

Stockport County Football Club takes a big step forward in prioritising mental health by proudly introducing a dedicated team of Mental Health First Aiders as part of our wider County Collective initiative.

This significant investment underscores our commitment to supporting both staff and supporters, fostering an environment where mental health concerns are met with understanding, empathy, and immediate support.

In November, eight members of our Club underwent training to become qualified Mental Health First Aiders. This diverse group includes individuals from various departments across Edgeley Park, the Academy, and the County Community Trust. Amy Heaton, Connor Slattery, Melissa Harding, Suzanne Heath, Matti Oates, Tanya Audas, Luke Floyd, and Ellie O’Connor are our dedicated Mental Health First Aider team. They join our pre-existing Mental Health First Aiders, James Jennings and Adam Jones.

This initiative stands as a testament to the Club’s commitment to ensuring that everyone within our community has a supportive resource to turn to when facing mental health challenges. Whether on match days or during regular operations, our Mental Health First Aiders are here to lend an empathetic ear, offer guidance, and provide the necessary support.

By investing in the training, the Club not only supports the well-being of individuals but also aligns with our broader initiatives promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI). We firmly believe that inclusivity means providing a safe space for open conversations about mental health and offering tangible support to those who need it.

The Mental Health First Aid training, facilitated by Altruist, equipped our team with the necessary skills and knowledge to address mental health concerns effectively.

We encourage everyone to reach out without hesitation to any member of our Mental Health First Aider team. Their dedication and training make them valuable resources for anyone seeking support, guidance, or simply a listening ear. Together, let’s continue to build a community where mental health is prioritised, supported, and understood.
