The Club is delighted to announce the signing of former Hartlepool United defender Mark Kitching.
Mark, 24, was born in the North East and was a graduate of Middlesbrough’s highly regarded Academy, gaining experience from loan spells at York City and Rochdale before joining the latter permanently in February 2017.
The versatile defender has been at Hartlepool United since 2018, making 78 appearances for the Club at predominantly left-back, with the ability to play in midfield. Mark joins County as a free agent after turning down a new contract at Hartlepool, alongside several other clubs in England and Scotland.
Simon Wilson, Director of Football said: “Mark was one of the first players Jim and I discussed on my arrival to the club. Modern day full backs are required to do many things, and Mark ticks a lot of boxes – with the ability in a strong team under Jim to get better.
He was a stand out opportunity this summer, at 24 with no compensation payable and significant game time in this league under his belt, and we had to beat off a number of other clubs for his signature. We’re grateful to Mark for his belief in our plans and choosing to move his life and commit to the area and I’m confident he will be a great success here.”
