Thank you to the Premier League

The National League wishes to place on record its gratitude to the Premier League for an advance in its annual solidarity payments.

The Premier League unanimously voted to send funds to The National League three months earlier than originally scheduled.

Reflecting on their decision, National League Chairman, Brian Barwick, said: “I am delighted that the relationship between the Premier League and The National League remains so strong.

“We are very grateful that the Premier League have advanced us monies to be able to distribute to our clubs in the coming days.

“It is a gesture that will bring some welcome relief to many of the clubs in our league. It is appreciated”.

County owner Mark Stott said: “The bringing forward of next season’s solidarity payment is welcomed and shows that the National League clubs are rightly in the thoughts of the wider football family, and our collective challenges.

“Our priority remains the welfare of everyone connected with Stockport County FC and we will continue to do everything we can to support the NHS and our essential workers in helping us to get through this global pandemic.

“I also want to thank all County fans for the positive interactions we have received on social media during the lockdown and I hope it won’t be too long before we can all be back together again at Edgeley Park. Stay safe.”
