Young County striker scores in 12 consecutive games

Academy striker Szymon Czubik has continued his great run of goal scoring form with a brilliant hat trick to further extend his remarkable scoring run to 12 consecutive games.

His recent treble against Stalybridge Celtic Under-19s puts Czubik at the top of the tree this Christmas, having outscored even Jason Oswell at the club, with 22 goals in just 12 games.

The teenager’s clutch of goals includes three hat tricks, as well as a five-goal haul in a win over Ramsbottom’s Under-21s in October.

Szymon is of Polish descent and hails from Goole – he arrived at County’s Academy after a friendly against Goole Town FC back in 2015. The game was arranged through the youth manager of Goole Town Marc Brown, whose father was a staunch County fan. Marc recommended the young striker to Alan Lord and Al was suitably impressed after the game between the two teams at Edgeley Park.

Szymon has such a desire to make it as a footballer, and with the tremendous support of his family, he left Goole to join the Stockport County Academy programme. Szymon is keen to repay their support by making the most of his opportunity.

Alan Lord describes him as a player who ‘doesn’t waste a minute’ further describing him as one of the hungriest players at the club ‘who trains at maximum every day.’

Szymon arrived at the Academy as a raw talent but Al said: “I cannot think of any player who could beat his pace, power and eye for a goal with either foot or with his head. He has continually added technical, tactical and physical attributes during the two years of coaching under James Gannon. In my opinion he is a pro in the making.”

Czubik has already followed the proven pathway from the Academy to the first team and is on the fringes of Jim Gannon’s squad, having been named as a substitute in the FA Cup tie at home to FC United in September. And one of his goals this season came in County’s crushing 8-1 win over Cheadle Town, alongside established first teamers, in the Cheshire Senior Cup in October.

Congratulations to Szymon on his achievements this season, and we look forward to seeing more of this exciting young talent in 2018.
