County Community Trust Primary Schools Coaching Programme

What’s Involved?

Our CCT Schools and Coaching team provide a range of coaching opportunities at primary schools throughout Stockport, Tameside, East Cheshire, and the High Peak. The coaching team is led by the CCT Schools Manager Chris Pownall, using his expertise and knowledge as a primary school teacher. Through his guidance and support, our CCT team of coaches offer in a variety of sports and activities including football, multi-sports, dodgeball, hockey, tag rugby, FUNdamentals and much more.

Our Aim

The overarching aim of this programme is to engage with primary school children in our community and give them the opportunity to take part in physical sporting activities throughout the academic year. We support schools in promoting healthy and active lifestyles, as well as delivering key messages to create positive futures for children during all sessions.

What we Offer

We provide schools with a minimum NGB Level 2 qualified coach, who has had experience in a school setting previously. We will work with each individual school to create a bespoke package that suits the school, teaching staff and children to ensure we reach the best outcomes for everyone in line with the national curriculum. The CCT have created a multi-sport curriculum which can be adapted to meet the individual needs of each school and class, to make sure there are clear learning outcomes, progression will also be reviewed on a lesson-by-lesson basis. We can support the school with both class and individual assessments, to ensure targets are being met and children are able to see their own progress.

The CCT team also deliver both inhouse and external staff CPD sessions as part of each programme to help ensure that our delivery is sustainable and so that the teachers build confidence and experience in different sports and learn new skills too. On top of your traditional sports, we can also offer sessions on healthy eating, mental wellbeing, leadership and keeping active at home.

As Stockport County’s affiliated charity, we can also offer further extensions to each primary school such as:

  • Ground Tours
  • Match Day Visits
  • Under 11’s Football Competitions
  • Half Time Experience
  • Healthy Eating Assemblies
