County Community Trust PAN Disability Programme

What’s Involved?

The CCT PAN Disability Programme launched in September 2021, striving to offer a fun, safe and inclusive programme to both juniors and adults. The programme offers the opportunity to meet other people, develop physical and mental health and play for one of the Trust’s Stockport County teams in competitive matches, however, all sessions are also open to participants who wish to train but not play in matches. We also offer social opportunities to get together, attend County matches together, and playing other teams from Football clubs Trusts’ and Foundations in friendly matches.

When and Where

Adults (ages 16+):  Wednesdays 5:30pm – 6:30pm at Stockport Powerleague, Heaton Mersey SK4 2AP.

Juniors (ages 8-16): Mondays 5.00pm-6.00pm at Club Cheadle Hulme, Cheadle Hulme High School, Woods Lane, Cheadle Hulme SK8 7JY.

Our Aim

Our aim is to improve sporting and social skills, as well as self-esteem and confidence. The inclusive sessions are delivered on a weekly basis and themed around all aspects of football. We use the brand of Stockport County and power of football to break down barriers and stereotypes to ensure all disabled participants have an opportunity to engage in football activity relevant to their disability.

Players of all genders and abilities, who have a disability which may prevent them from participating in mainstream football, are welcome to our weekly training sessions.

County Community Trust Health & Well-Being Manager, Adrian Rigby-Bates, said: “Developing an inclusive football development programme has been a priority for the County Community Trust. We are extremely pleased and proud we now have our own disability teams competing against all the other clubs in the area. We are looking forward to liaising and working with parents, carers, schools and community organisations who would like to become part of this programme in the future.”

Our Partners

We work in partnership with the Cheshire FA and oversee the monthly Ability Counts Football Tournaments for junior and adult disability teams to take part in from Stockport, Manchester, High Peak and Cheshire. In addition, we work in partnership with local schools, colleges, disability organisations, day services and mental health groups by providing this opportunity.
