County Community Trust Youth Engagement Programme
What’s Involved?
Our CCT Community Engagement sessions provide opportunities for children and young people to engage with their local football club across Stockport and the wider community.
Working in collaboration with local Borough Councils such as Stockport and Poynton MBC’s along with key partners such as the National League Trust, we aim to ensure the power of Stockport County can support communities well beyond the Edgeley Park and the surrounding community.
Football and multi-sports sessions are delivered for children and young people aged 10 -17 years in communities across Stockport and East Cheshire. These sessions provide a safe and friendly environment to meet new people, exercise and improve general mental health and well-being.
Our Aim
The background behind delivering these weekly evening sessions is to allow the provision and opportunity for children and young people aged 10 -17 to participant in regular physical exercise in a social friendly, safe, structured, enjoyable environment.
We aim to make these sessions FREE to attend due to securing vital funding and working with key partners such as the National League Trust and local councils.
The added benefits from these weekly sessions are much more than taking part in sport as the attendees have the opportunity to make friends and possibly socialise away from the venues during other times of the week. Attendees are also offered the opportunity to play as part of the Stockport County Engagement Team, competing with other clubs/organisations who are delivering similar programmes. The opportunity to wear the Stockport County kit and gain a sense of belonging and empowerment is a huge positive outcome.
The sessions have a positive impact in reducing Anti-Social-Behaviour around the venues the sessions are taking place due to the young people attending the sessions.
We believe our CCT Youth Engagement Programme has the following positive impact on:
- Raising children and young people’s aspirations.
- Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour.
- Improved community cohesion.
- Educate young people on health and well-being.
- Stronger collaboration with partners and other organisations.
