Centre-back Rhys Bennett had trained at Carrington with County in the 22/23 season, as part of a work-experience programme with his parent club Manchester United. He impressed during his time with us, and earned a new contract back at Old Trafford before joining the Hatters on loan in January 2023.
The Denton-born defender came through the Manchester United academy, where he captained and scored in the FA Youth Cup win in front of a crowd of 67,000 at Old Trafford back in the 21/22 season.
He was a regular in the Under-21 side and was even named in the matchday squad on a handful of occasions before moving to Edgeley Park.
Rhys made his full debut for County away at Tranmere Rovers in February 2024.
